They Not only gave us authority to observe the work but also gave us full independence to give our suggestion to the contractor where we feel that work quality should be improved.They also told us to made a separate register to note down all the Daily progress of work we perform on the site and a separate register for the Estimating and Costing work. Work we handle: As explained earlier we handle the work of villas. In which we supervise the works like Brickwork, Casting of lintels and Columns, Casting of Slab, Plastering work and some of the necessity test on the quality of work. * Brick work: Brick binds are mainly of two types:- * English bond * Flemish bondAs the structures here are composite structure which means structures not only based on columns and Beams it also contains some of Load bearing as well as Non-load bearing walls. The load bearing walls are 230mm (9 inch. ) which means 1 thick wall and Non-load bearing wall (pardhi wall) are 115mm (4? inch. ) thick which means half thick wall. The mortar used in load bearing wall having ratio of 1:6 and non-bearing wall 1:4. The bond used in brickwork is English Type of bond in which header and stretcher are placed in alternative layer. In villas,English bond brickwork is done.We have to see the bricks are properly soaked they have good appearance and shape and the gaps are sufficiently filled with mortar, the alignment of wall with the help of Plumb bob. The ratio of mortar used by testing and the prepared mortar is fresh enough like made more then 2 hours is not used in brickwork. All these things should be kept in mind also we have to see proper Queen Closer should be placed at the end of wall. * Plastering work:- Plastering is the process of covering the rough surface of walls , columns, ceilings and other building components with thin coat of plastic mortars to form a smooth durable surface.The coating of plastic material is termed as plaster. Plastering on external exposed surfaces is known as rendering. Plastering on walls should be of ratio 1:4 i. e one bag of cement and four bags of sand. External plastering is of 20 mm and is done in two coats first of 12mm and then of 8mm. * The joints of the brick work shall raked out to a depth of 12 mm and the surface of the wall washed and clean and kept wet for the two days before plastering. The material of mortar should be of standard specification. The thickness of the plastering shall be of 12mm to ensure uniform thickness of plaster; patches of 15 cm shall be applied first at about 2 m apart to act as guide. First mortar shall be dashed and pressed over the surface and then brought to a true smooth and uniform surface by means of float and trowel. Wall plastering shall be started from top and worked down towards floor,. Ceiling plastering shall be completed before starting of wall plaster. All corner and edge shall be rounded. The plastered surface shall be kept wet for 10 days the surface should be protected from rain, sun, frost, etc. For wall plastering 1:5 cement mortar and for ceiling plastering 1:3 cement mortar with coarse sand is used. FINE AGGREGATES:- For the concrete work shall coarse sand/coarse stone dust conforming the relevant IS. COARSE AGGREGATE:- For all the concrete work shall be broken/crushed locally best available grade coarse aggregated size shall be as specified in structural drawing. While internal plastering is of 12mm and done in a single coat. Mixing of materials should be done with mixture machine only, and if hand mix mixture is used then acc. to the I. S. standards 10% of cement extra is used in mixing. Casting of slab: Casting of slab is very important stage of construction because every aspects of depends on that. Before casting of concrete the steel of different dias according to design is laid and binds together and the frame before that is properly checked that they have a proper uniform level with the help of leveler. After checking all this the slab is casted and the concrete is used in the slab is of Characteristic strength 20 Mpa and is imported by RMC’s . During casting of column proper vibration is needed with the help of pin headed Vibrator so that no honeycombing is occur in the slab. The slab is cured properly for 7 days after the casting of concrete as water is flooded over the slab for avoiding the shrinkage cracks on that. STEEL:- TMT FE415/FE 500 Steels to be shall be factory rolled and should be processed only SAIL or any other ISI mark. FORM WORK GENERAL:- * The form work shall be designed and Constructed to the shapes, lines and dimension shown on the drawings. * All the form work shall be sufficiently water tight to prevent the water leakage of mortar. It shall be constructed as to be removable In section. Timber for temporary work such as shuttering scaffolding, centering etc. shall be provided with any class of woods , but it should suitable long enough for purpose for which it is used should be preferably by 1st class soft wood and ply. * The timber for form work shall be clean and when concrete may be finished without application of plaster the timber form work may be clean shown on the inside face . CLEANING AND TREATMENT OF FORM WORK * All rubbish, particularly chipping, shaving and saw dust shall be removed from interior of the forms before the concrete is placed . The form work in contact with concrete shall be cleaned with approved composition to prevent adhesion between form work and concrete work. We use wire brush to clean the forms to keep them clean for next work of construction. STRIPPING TIME OF FORM WORK * Attain a strength at least the strength to which the concrete may be subjected. * At the same proportion and cured under the condition of the temperature and moisture similar to there existing on the work. If the concrete won’t stop flowing * because the slump is too high, there are potential problems with mortar loss through the formwork, excessive formwork pressure, finishing delays and segregation. * Air content measure the total air content in a sample of fresh concrete, but does not indicate what the final in-place air content will be, because a certain amount of air is lost in transportation Consolidating, placement and finishing.Three field tests are widely specified: the pressure meter and volumetric method are ASTM standards and the Chace Indicator is an AASHTO procedure. * Unit weight measures the weight of a known volume of the fresh concrete. * Compressive strength is testes by pouring cubes of fresh concrete and measuring the force needed to break the concrete cubes at prescribed interval as they harden. According to Building Code Requirements for reinforced concrete (ACI 318) as long as no single test more than 500 psi below the design strength and the average of three consecutive tests equals or exceed the design strength then the concrete is acceptable.If the strength tests don’t meet these criteria, steps must be taken to raise the average. * CURING PROCESS * Exposed surfaces of concrete shall be kept continuous in a damp or wet condition by covering with a layer of sand for at least seven day compound may used in moist curing with the permission of architect. * Such as compound shall be applied to all exposed to surface of concrete as soon as possible after concrete has set. SHADING OF CONCRETE WORK The object of shading concrete work is to prevent the evaporation of water from the surface even before setting. This is adopted mainly in case of large concrete surfaces as roads , slabs. PONDING METHOD This is best method of curing. It is suitable for curing. It is suitable for curing horizontal surfaces such as floors, roof, slabs and field pavement. The horizontal taps surface of the beam can also be ponded. The Hound of the Baskervilles Essay Arthur Conan Doyle lived in London in the late 19th century. His career was not exactly very successful in the early stages of his life. It is a classic detective story, during the Romantic period of literature. It is a Gothic tale. There are many elements of macabre that link this novel with the Gothic genre. These include the setting in the wild moor, set at night time. The most important link is that to the phantom hound, and especially the eyes. Its eyes glowed with a smouldering glare. There is a strong link to the Gothic genre with the mention of phosphorescent eyes. There is a stereotypical set of characters, the hero, the trusty sidekick, the damsel in distress, and of course the arch-villain (black-sheep). It is all very melodramatic. The hero is Sherlock Holmes, who is very clever and is always right. The sidekick is Dr Watson, who isnt that clever, and tends to get things wrong. The damsel in distress is Stapletons sister (actually Stapletons wife). The arch-villain is no other than Stapleton himself.

After a full term of nine months, his mother gave birth to him via normal delivery on the 4th of December in 2003. He weighed 7.7 lbs and was 21 inches in length. As an infant, he was healthy and breastfed by his mother who attended to his care full-time. His father, who is a real estate agent, also gave him proper care and attention. Despite his hectic work schedule, he made sure that he spent enough time with Kevin at night and on non-working days. Kevin took his first solid food at five months old but was still being breastfed by his mother. Occasionally, he would have stomach upsets that would result to loose bowel movement, though not severe. At six months old, he started to fixate on baby toys and other objects but still did not have object permanence. For his social progress, he would smile when cuddled and touched on the chin. Also at this stage, his sleeping time decreased from 16 hours to 13 hours, as he was awake most time of the day. For his developmental milestones, Kevin started to crawl at seven months old. Nearly a month after that, he spoke his first word (mama). He started walking when he was one year old. As months passed, he eventually learned to communicate with others using â€Å"baby talk† (more milk, want toy, where ball?, touch doggie). He also started showing resilience to strangers and visitors in the house. When he was nearly two years old, he had an accident in their backyard. He tried to climb a slide but fell. Fortunately, he only had bumps and bruises. His x-ray results did not show any bone fracture or dislocation. For his social development, Kevin started having playmates at two years old. His favorite toys were building blocks, ball, and toy cars. He was also fond of scribbling and would even ask for paper and crayons. It was also at this stage when he was constantly showing tantrums whenever he did not get what he wanted. He would cry, whine and throw himself on the floor. Sometimes he would also throw things and try to attack his playmates, parents or baby-sitter. Moreover, he frequently sought attention by being affectionate and impressing people through his baby antics (beautiful eyes, flying kiss, moonwalk). When he was two years and five months old, his mother decided to go back to work and get a baby-sitter to watch over him while they were out. At first they had difficulty adjusting to this set-up since Kevin would cry every time his mother left the house. It seemed that he was overly attached to his mother that he could not trust anyone other than his parents. This might be due to the principle of separation anxiety (Santrock, 2002). Eventually, he got used to this set-up and was able to establish a good relationship with his nanny. His toilet training began at this stage, though he was not yet able to urinate and/or defecate on his own. He would just tell his nanny that she needed to change his diaper. He was also taught how to eat and drink on his own despite spillages, which was typical for his age. Last December of 2006, Kevin turned three. At this point, he has been showing great progress in his physical, cognitive, and socio-emotional development. From pursuing pleasure to avoiding pain, life seems to ultimately be about achieving happiness. However, how to define and obtain happiness has and continues to be a widely debated issue. In Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle gives his view on happiness. Aristotle focuses particularly on how reason, our rational capacity, should help us recognize and pursue what will lead to happiness and the good life.';(Cooley and Powell, 459) He refers to the soul as a part of the human body and what its role is in pursuing true happiness and reaching a desirable end. Aristotle defines good'; as that which everything aims.(Aristotle, 459) Humans have an insatiable need to achieve goodness and eventual happiness. Sometimes the end that people aim for is the activity they perform, and other times the end is something we attempt to achieve by means of that activity. Aristotle claims that there must be some end since everything cannot be means to something else.(Aristotle, 460) In this case, there would b e nothing we would try to ultimately achieve and everything would be pointless. An ultimate end exists so that what we aim to achieve is attainable. Some people believe that the highest end is material and obvious (when a person is sick they seek health, and a poor person searches for wealth). Most people think that the highest end is a life of pleasure. Hedonists have defined happiness as " an equivalent to the totality of pleasurable or agreeable feeling.';(Fox, 3) Some pleasures are good and contribute to happiness. Not all ends are ultimate ends but the highest end would have to be something ultimate; the only conceivable ultimate end is happiness. Happiness is perhaps the only clear ultimate end. Happiness is what we strive for by itself and not to get anything else. "So it appears that happiness is the ultimate end and completely sufficient by itself. It is the end we seek in all we do.';(Aristotle, 461) Mans' good is related to his purpose; the purpose of a man involves the actions of his soul (the soul being a part of his reasoning). There are various organisational and legal requirements for supervising children on journeys, visits and activities outside of the school setting. These include policies and procedures which should be carried out by the school including risk assessments of areas that will be visited (New2teaching, 2013).Risks assessments will identify any hazards and/or dangers and who might be armed and how this may happen, allow the risks to be evaluated and check if the precautions are sufficient. They also allow staff to record their findings and review and revise assessments if necessary. Prior to the trip, the school will have to inform parents or guardians of all the necessary details in good time and obtain their consent for their child to go on the school trip . This should be in writing and include at least the location, date and time of departure and arrival, purpose, price and what is required on the trip by the children.The school should have other necessary information of each child going on the trip, ncluding dietary information, allergies, any other medical conditions and also if they suffer from travel sickness. Also, the school should ensure that there is a suitable adult-child ratio and that all Moreover, there must be sufficient insurance cover for all participants of the trip as well as accidents and emergency policies and procedures, which should be in place for off-site visits. There should be a budget in place for the school trip, including expenditure and contingency costs and all money should be accounted.A record should be made showing all payments made by pupils and receipts should be issued to each of hem. It is important that children, young people and adults have complete and accurate information about travel arrange ments in good time. This is to ensure that everyone arrives on time, prepared with any necessary resources. This is to avoid delay of departure or even not going on the visit if there is something missing or another difficult situation arises where someone or all of those who are involved may not be able to go on the trip as planned.It is necessary to ensure that vehicles used on trips are in good condition and safe for all passengers (New2teaching, 2013). Also, if the Journey is long, then it will be necessary to make sure there are snacks and check that there is a toilet on the coach or the relevant transport. If this is not possible then there should be an arranged stop for toilet breaks. It should be checked that drivers are competent and have the correct licence and if necessary whether to have more than one driver in case of fatigue.The preparations which need to be made by all those going on Journeys, visits and off-site activities would be to ensure that all individuals have appropriate clothing and sufficient food and drink should be taken where necessary. There should be a list of all those attending the visit and registers made for supervisors in order to account for all children on the trip. There should be someone who is in charge of funds in case of an emergency or break down of vehicle during a trip. should be ensured that there is a first aider on the trip, along with a first aid box.Also, at least one member of the group should carry a mobile phone with them in case of emergency and they should have emergency contact numbers. There should also be a point of contact belonging to the area visited on the school trip and the staff ember should be familiar of this. In case someone on the trip goes missing, staff should be aware of where to go in the area visited and should be made aware of the procedures. Any medication, for example, inhalers should be taken for those who may fall ill during the visit.In the case of late departure and arrival, the school should be informed by the relevant staff on the trip and parents should be notified for security reasons. The following is an account of the Oakwood Primary School trip for Nursery and Reception class to Gulliver's Land, in Milton Keynes, which took place on 27th June 013. Prior to the trip, I made sure what time I had to be in school for and what time the bus would be leaving. This was well after my normal start time for work so I didn't need to leave the house any earlier. As the Journey was about 45 minutes, it was a direct route.Therefore, no stops were needed. All staff that were attending were given a list with the names of the group of children for which they would be responsible. It was made sure that there were no more than 6 children in each group. My group was a group of 6 from the Reception class. The bus was due to leave at gam. As soon as the children arrived at 8. 30am and ushered into the class, they were settled down and the register was taken, ensuring all t he children that were going on the trip were present. Before departing, we bag and that it was labelled with their name.We also asked the children if they needed to go to the toilet so nobody needed to go during the Journey. The children were told to stay with their group at all times and were put into pairs. We then went to board the bus. I sat at the front of the bus and helped the children near me to put on their seatbelts. All of their packed lunches were placed at the front f the bus, in the designated area for luggage. The register was taken by the Early Years Manager and a headcount was carried out. I ensured all the children in my group were present.During the Journey, I made sure the children did not remove their seatbelts or move out of their seat. Some of the children had accessories like hats and sunglasses, so I told them to look after them. There were no issues during the Journey and the children were fine on the bus. When we arrived, the children were told to get thei r belongings and the bus was checked thoroughly to prevent anything being left ehind. The children were told to get into their groups and reminded of which staff member they would have to stay with throughout the trip.The register was taken to check that all the children were off the bus. I made my group stay in their pairs, hold hands with each other and to stay with me at all times. We arrived in good time, Just before the park opened. This ensured we had as much time as possible in the park. We were all given a map and details of attractions that were available throughout the day. When the park was open, we were allowed in and it was snack time for the children. So we went to a sheltered bench area and sat the children down and made sure they had their fruit or other snack. I made sure my group was sat down and in my sight.When they had finished their snack, I told them to throw their waste in the bins provided by the bench area and not litter the ground. They were told to give t heir pack lunches to their group leader and any belongings they did not require until later. These were all placed in secure lockers, which were next to the bench area. We were told to meet up again at this area at lunch time. We then decided to stay with other group and go on the same rides, so any children ho did not want to go on a particular ride could be supervised by another adult, while another group leader went on the ride with the rest of the children.The rides on which I escorted the children, I ensured they were sat securely, making sure any safety harnesses were attached and that they held on to the bars provided, so that they were comfortable. When it was almost time for lunch, we made our way back to the lunch area and gave into their carrier bag and put back in the locker, along with any other belongings. Occasionally the children some of the children would try to leave their partner or the roup as they were drawn to an attraction or something else and I was constantl y reminding them to stay together and not wander off.After going on a ride, one child in my group was not feeling well because the ride was a shock for her. We made sure she did not go on anymore rides that would not be appropriate and made her for a while until she felt better to go on other rides. In between rides, some children need to go to the toilet, so I accompanied them and left the other children in my group with another staff member. I counted how many children were with me and when they were finished, I ensured the same number of hildren came out of the toilet.It was nearing the time of departure from the park and we were waiting to get on a ride. My group was waiting with another group. We wanted the children to ride but we knew that there was a shortage of time. The other group leader made a call to the Early Years Manager to see if we would be able to go on the ride and she said that we did not have enough time. Therefore, we had to leave the waiting area for the ride and gather our groups. I went with the Early Years Manager to get the bags from the lockers, after leaving my roup supervised with another staff member.After we retrieved the bags and checked there was nothing left, we tended to our groups and ensured every child was there. When we exited the park, the children were in their pairs and we boarded the bus. The register was taken again and the headcount was repeated. On the way back a child sitting in front of me fell asleep, so I put her head in a comfortable position for her. When we reached school, I gently woke her before we got off the bus. As we got off the bus, we checked detached the children's seatbelt for hem and ensured that they were getting off safely and not leaving anything behind.
